Minimum Cubelet
The Minimum Cubelet
The Minimum Cubelet can accept any amount of data but only outputs the smallest value that it receives. The block should be used with at least two more Cubelets as part of a robot construction kit. See available Cubelet Kits.
More about Cubelets
Cubelets® are the only toy that uses Tactile Coding to help builders of nearly any age explore robotics, coding, and more. Uniquely designed, they are little bundles of software inside little bundles of hardware. As you build a robot, you learn to build a program. It’s a fun and fascinating way to introduce big ideas through play.
Better thinking through play
The Cubelets Discovery Set is the perfect introduction to the world of Cubelets robot blocks. Open a box of little robots that will intrigue, fascinate, and inspire builders for hours on end. A unique blend of hardware and software, Cubelets make it easier than ever to explore robotics, coding, and other big ideas. Cubelet activities and learning objectives are designed for each key stage from primary through secondary school.
The Minimum Cubelet can accept any amount of data but only outputs the smallest value that it receives.
More about Cubelets
Create
Little robots for building big imaginations.
Cubelets robot blocks make it easy for builders of nearly any age to imagine, craft, and invent countless robot constructions.
Make
Just like building blocks, only smarter.
Cubelets are little blocks of software inside little blocks of hardware. Each Cubelet has a special function, so how you assemble your robot changes its behaviour. Every combination is a new creation.
Reinvent
Tactile coding; Cubelets make the principles of programming easy to learn and practice. Cubelets’ special combination of software and hardware means that as you build a robot you build a program. It’s hands-on coding! Each Cubelet has a special function and belongs to one of three categories: SENSE Cubelets take in information from the robot’s environment. THINK Cubelets compute and change that information, and ACT Cubelets turn that information into a physical action.
Cubelets’ magnetic faces make them simple to snap together and pull apart. Connect at least one SENSE, THINK, and ACT Cubelet to create a robot construction. Build loads of simple robot constructions with the Cubelets Discovery Set. The yellow Brick Adaptors connect to LEGO® and other brick building-block toys.
The Bluetooth® Hat pairs robot constructions with mobile devices. Simple, proximity-based pairing makes connecting easy. Cap your creations with the Bluetooth® Hat to add new abilities using the free Cubelets app. The Cubelets app is your portal to the software blocks inside each Cubelet. Remote Control manipulates individual Cubelets to change the behaviour of an entire robot construction.
In the classroom or in the living room, Cubelets foster vital skills, all while kids play with robots. Fascinating and fun, they nurture your child’s imagination, creativity, and inventive spirit. Cubelets are the building blocks of better thinkers.
The Minimum Cubelet is a THINK block that accepts any amount of data but only outputs the smallest value that it receives. It can be handy for creating an on-off switch for a robot and also for using with a Distance Cubelet to build robots that avoid falling off the edge of a table.
Available Cubelets
- Bar Graph Cubelet
Handy for data measurement and debugging. - Battery Cubelet
Every robot needs a Battery Cubelet. - Blocker Cubelet
A building block that is also a data barrier. It still passes power, but effectively stops communication and can insulate one side of a robot from another.
Bluetooth® Cubelet - A wireless link to control, monitor, reprogram or interact with a Cubelets. The Bluetooth Cubelet contains a tiny Bluetooth radio that you can pair with your phone, tablet or PC.
- Bluetooth Hat
A fast and easy link between robot constructions and the Cubelets app. - Brightness Cubelet
A sensor module that reads the amount of available light. - Distance Cubelet
The distance block can sense how far away it is from an object. - Drive Cubelet
A block with wheels for driving around on flat surfaces. - Flashlight Cubelet
Throws a bright beam of white light. - Inverse Cubelet
Flips the values it encounters. Low values become high, and high values become low. - Knob Cubelet
A Sense block with a knob that you can set. The Knob Cubelet has a potentiometer embedded in one of its faces. It outputs a 0 when turned fully counterclockwise and a 1 when turned clockwise. - Maximum Cubelet
Filter out only the highest value. - Minimum Cubelet
Outputs the minimum input value that it receives. - Passive Cubelet
Transmits power and data just like a wire, but doesn't move, sense or change data. - Rotate Cubelet
One face of the block rotates. - Speaker Cubelet
Great for building noisy robots! - Temperature Cubelet
Detect the temperature and build robots that respond to the weather. The Temperature Cubelet contains a tiny thermometer (actually, a thermistor) that detects temperature. It's calibrated to output a 0 in freezing conditions and 255 in hot, sunny conditions of about 35C - Threshold Cubelet
The Threshold is a THINK Cubelet with a knob to alter the behaviour of your robots. It will output a value of zero until its inputs exceed the threshold set by the knob. Above this threshold data will flow normally. Use this Cubelet to create robots that react suddenly, gate data flow, or exhibit binary behaviour.
